Making a pileup you can actually copy
The rules the band manager follows so that several stations on screen sound like a real band instead of noise.
The core idea of MorseMan is that height on screen is pitch. That only works if the player can pick the stations apart, so the game follows a few band rules:
- One station transmits at a time by default. Every call is followed by at least one word gap before another station starts.
- Overlap is opt-in (Options →
SIMULTANEOUS: never / fortress / stage 5+). When it’s allowed, two stations must be at least two lanes apart in pitch (e.g. 900 Hz vs 675 Hz), and the second starts at least 0.6 s after the first. - Each station gets its own lane, at least two away from the others when possible, and stations arrive one after another instead of in a cluster.
- Stations beam in first, then call, so you never miss the start.
- Speed adapts to how busy the band is: every station is heard about the same number of times, and never fewer than two full calls.
While you type, white brackets mark every station your text still matches. That one small HUD detail made the pileups feel fair.
